Training Opportunities

The Arizona LGMA is pleased to share the following food safety training opportunities for LGMA members, their growers, and harvest crews.

Environmental Risk Assessment Training (Module 4)
SPANISH

In this course, attendees will learn how to appropriately conduct pre-harvest and daily harvest risk assessments in the field. Hazards and mitigations outlined in the Arizona LGMA Metrics - Table 0 - Crop Land and Water Source Adjacent and Nearby Land Use will also be addressed.

Root Cause Analysis Part 1

Presented by CONTACT/ Virginia Tech

Dr. Jennifer McEntire along with a series of presenters will guide us through a crash course in root cause analysis (RCA) with an emphasis on practical application for industry. Part I will focus on the what and why, giving attendees a refresher on RCA as we dive deeper into the topic. The webinar will feature 4 speakers over the first hour, with the last 30 minutes of each webinar reserved for a live only Q&A where audience questions will be answered. Speakers include Dr. Mark Moorman (FDA), Natalie Dyenson (International Fresh Produce Association), Afreen Malik (Western Growers), and Dr. Don Schaffner Rutgers.

This webinar is free and will be held via Zoom. Registration is required.

Produce Safety Rule Grower Training

Presented by Produce Alliance

Gain a basic understanding of:

  • Microorganisms relevant to produce safety and where they may be found on the farm. 

  • How to identify microbial risks, practices that reduce risks, and how to begin implementing safe practices on the farm. 

  • Parts of a farm food safety plan and how to begin writing one.

  • Requirements in the FSMA Produce Safety Rule and how to meet them. 

 

After attending the entire course, participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO). The certificate verifies completion of the course and will be emailed to participants.
